The Zaffran Lab at Marseille Medical Genetics (MMG) is seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher to join their team as part of a collaborative, CEFIPRA-funded project investigating the role of a novel gene identified in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).

About the Project: The Zaffran Lab focuses on unraveling the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying cardiac diseases, with a particular emphasis on HCM. In this 2-year postdoctoral position, beginning in 2025, the successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative project between our lab at the Marseille Medical Genetics (MMG) and the team of Prof. Dhandapany Perundurai at inStem, Bangalore, India. The project aims to explore the molecular mechanisms linked to an HCM-associated variant in a novel, non-sarcomeric gene. Using a combination of in vivo and in vitro models, including human iPSC-based system and preclinical models, the research will advance our understanding of HCM pathogenesis and identify potential therapeutic targets.

Qualification required:

PhD in Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, or related field (or close to completion)

Strong background in stem cell/iPS culture and mouse developmental biology

Demonstrated interest in developmental and stem cell biology

At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal

Preferred: High level of motivation, scientific curiosity, and ability to work independently and collaboratively

Deadline: 31th July 2025
