Introduction
Mr. Shivvrat Jha is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at the Center for Emerging and Tropical Diseases, Department of Microbiology, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, India. His doctoral research focuses on identifying essential phenotypic and genotypic characteristics of Burkholderia cepacia and clinical isolates of Burkholderia pseudomallei from India, the causative agent of melioidosis.
Mr. Jha holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Master of Science in Biotechnology. Prior to his Ph.D., he gained hands-on research experience at the Indian Council of Medical Research, Rajendra Memorial Research Institute of Medical Sciences (ICMR-RMRIMS), Patna, India, where he worked as a Microbiology Trainee. There, he contributed to studies on Leishmania donovani, the pathogen responsible for visceral leishmaniasis. His work involved performing growth kinetics analyses, conducting immunoassays, and handling BALB/c mice as part of the experimental model.
His academic and research background reflects a strong commitment to infectious disease research, particularly in the field of neglected tropical diseases.
