Introduction

I am Chandrima Chakraborty, a neurobiology graduate from India, a society marked by significant biological and environmental diversity. This background shaped my interest in developmental biology and in understanding how conserved biological processes respond to genetic and environmental influences. I completed my Master’s degree in Neurobiology at Sophia College, Mumbai, where my research focused on gene regulation in disease using bioinformatics approaches. I subsequently trained at the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, where I worked with Hydra as a model organism to study neurodevelopment-related pathways by combining molecular techniques with behavioral assays. Currently, I work with Danio rerio (zebrafish) as a vertebrate model system to study developmental and physiological processes during early development. The zebrafish model allows real-time observation of development and serves as a strong bridge between simple model organisms and human biology.
