Our Mission
The Indian Society of Developmental Biologists was established in 1977 by scientists at various universities across India including University of Pune, JNU, and Rajasthan University. It was to be a platform to exchange ideas, keep abreast of the latest developments in the field, and increase interest in the field among students and researchers.
Today, as the field has grown in the country, much of this research has shifted to research institutes in bioclusters in the metropolises of India. So, while the mission of the InSDB remains the same – to foster exchange of ideas and materials and to promote research and teaching in developmental biology – our vision is to bring back the spirit of inquiry into principles of development using research materials around us and in diverse educational centers of our country.
